What is the Best Way to Learn Spanish?

If you want to learn Spanish as a foreign language, it’s a good choice – Spanish is one of the most widely-spoken foreign languages in America and other Latin countries, such as Mexico and South American countries.

Because of the immigration population to the United States, there are a lot of people in the United States who don’t have a lot of knowledge of Spanish, and immigrants may not have a fluent command of English either. This makes it hard to communicate. So what’s the best way to learn Spanish? You can learn Spanish several different ways, even beyond what you were likely taught in school.

Most people want to learn Spanish in the same way they were taught during school – textbooks and group conversations. This, unfortunately, doesn’t always work out, because textbooks can be expensive, and they’re not the best way to learn Spanish because they teach you the formal way that the language is spoken.

Native Spanish speakers will tend to put the lingual dialect into their speech, which not all Spanish textbooks cover, so you’ll be lost when you try to understand them. Group conversation, however, does have its good points. You get to engage in conversation and work alongside students who are learning just like you.

The drawback is that the group moves at a certain pace, and you have to keep up with the group, otherwise you’ll fall behind. If you can work well in a group dynamic, group lessons are one of the best ways to learn Spanish.

You can try online courses; there are websites that offer free Spanish lessons online, or they offer a full course. These are one of the best ways to learn Spanish, especially if they come with audio tapes. Audio tapes let you hear how Spanish is supposed to be spoken, and the text component of online courses make it the best way to learn Spanish because you can both hear and see the words at your own pace.

One of the best ways to learn Spanish courses online that I’ve seen is Rocket Spanish – it has a full complement of all parts of the Spanish language that you’ll need to get by in daily conversations, plus you get to learn at completely your own pace when using online courses. The drawback here is that there’s no one to actually hold a conversation with. Learning a language in theory is all well and good, but to really make it stick it helps to have someone to have a conversation in the language, so you have to think fast about what you’re saying. Even so, online courses are one of the best ways to learn Spanish.

These are just a few of the best ways to learn Spanish. Probably the best way to learn Spanish would be to combine all these methods into a single program for yourself by setting up a learning schedule according to your learning needs and the time you have available. Ideally, one of the best ways to learn Spanish is to set aside half an hour each day. If you have audio tapes, you can listen to them in the car on the way to running errands.

Teaching Spanish

Teaching Spanish is not for the faint-hearted. If you plan to be teaching Spanish you will need to have the proper qualifications first. Of course, being able to speak the language fluently is another essential requirement.

Teaching Spanish is something best performed by a native Spanish speaker. If your first language is English, it won’t mean that you can’t teach Spanish, but it could mean that you will have to work a little bit harder at it.

There are an estimated 14 million people learning to speak Spanish on any given day, and that number is rising all the time. After English, Spanish is the most popular language for anyone to learn. In terms of world influence it comes in third after English and French.

French is not actually spoken as a first language by that many people, but it is influential. Spanish is rapidly gaining ground though. It seems set to become the second most influential language in the world, so teaching Spanish would seem to be an excellent choice of language to teach.

Spanish is now the second most influential language of the Internet. Chinese dominates as usual, but it has little influence outside of its own country. That leaves English as the most influential with Spanish doing very well indeed in second place.

Teaching Spanish may not involve a school or college at all. It may be that you are teaching your own child or children privately for your own reasons. Perhaps you simply want them to have the benefit of knowing another language. Perhaps your family is planning a vacation to a Spanish speaking country, or perhaps you plan to move to one.

Teaching Spanish requires discipline and organization. You need to have a good lesson plan that is proven to work, and you need to be able to deliver it. You should also be flexible enough to realize when the plan is not working as well as it should, and be able to adapt quickly. Plans do go wrong, but no one needs to notice if you are on top of it all.

If Spanish is your first language then teaching Spanish will not be nearly as difficult as it will be for others who don’t have Spanish as their first language. In your teaching you can inject little personal things that you simply know to be so. This is something that a non-native Spanish speaker will probably not be able to do. Having that personal touch will definitely add a flair of authenticity to your teaching.

Knowing something and being able to impart to it others is not the same thing. Some people are good at teaching while others couldn’t teach if they tried. Teaching Spanish is no different to any other subject in this respect. A good teacher can make a dull subject come alive and inject excitement and a willingness to learn in his or her pupils. A bad teacher with an exciting subject can make it seem dull and boring.

Teaching Spanish is not for everyone. Like the teaching of any language, it requires a great deal of understanding and a great deal of liking what you are doing too.

Teach Yourself Spanish

Spanish is one of the fastest-growing languages being spoken in the United States, because of the rising immigration rates. Many of these immigrants may not have fully mastered the English language, so they resort to speaking Spanish as their first language. This can lead to communicating problems in work and other areas. One of the best ways for you personally to get around this is to teach yourself Spanish. You can teach yourself Spanish in various ways – online courses, group discussions, private tutors or audio tapes are all good ways to teach yourself Spanish, even though some are more expensive than others.

Online courses allow you to go online virtually anytime you want and teach yourself Spanish. A good program is Rocket Spanish, and it’s one of the most comprehensive programs available online – it also has a two month money back guarantee if you’re not satisfied with it for whatever reason. Online courses can offer links to other online resources like dictionaries and suchlike to expand your Spanish vocabulary and understanding of the language. Part of what makes online courses to teach yourself Spanish so great is the fact that information is readily available on the Internet. Group discussions have their place too, but you really don’t get quite as much one-on-one interaction with a teacher.

Private Spanish tutors are another good way to teach yourself Spanish, if you happen to find a good one in your area. You can get plenty of individual help with a private tutor, because you have someone to hold conversations with. S/he can correct your Spanish accent so it sounds more authentic. It’s one of the easiest ways to learn – individual attention when learning something as complex as a foreign language is necessary. The downside is that it can be quite expensive: some teachers charge up to $35 per hour. If you’ve got that kind of money, more power to you, but most people likely don’t have that level of disposable income.

Audio tapes give you a mixture of the benefits of online teaching and private instruction. You get to hear pre-recorded versions of vocabulary worlds, phrases and other essential information about learning Spanish. You can repeatedly listen to audio tapes as often as you like, whilst only having to pay a single fee to buy the tapes. Usually, most audio tapes will come with instruction booklets to complement the audio portion of your learning by allowing you to see the words and phrases as well. This way, you can read signs and things in Spanish. If you want to teach yourself Spanish, you have to cover all the bases.

You can teach yourself Spanish with any of the above methods, and each has its benefits and drawbacks. If you have a busy schedule with little time to learn Spanish, you should probably go with online courses such as Rocket Spanish, because they allow you to teach yourself Spanish at your own pace when you have the time to. They also are available for a single fee – with some tutors, you have to pay either a weekly, monthly or even hourly fee. Since not everyone has this type of income, it’s best to minimize the cost.

Spanish Vocabulary Practice Does Not Need to Be Hard!

When you are trying to learn Spanish, you may feel like you just aren?t getting anywhere. However, there are some techniques that might make it a little easier. Spanish vocabulary practice can help immensely. By studying Spanish words and phrases, you can improve your vocabulary and this will help you understand the elements of the Spanish language. You will quickly become much more fluent.

Find a Lesson Plan that Works for You

When you start Spanish vocabulary practice, you will want to follow a specific lesson plan. This will help make some words easier to learn and you will understand the grammar that goes with the language. Begin by learning pronouns. Since every language has different ways to say the various forms of I, you, and we, these are the words to concentrate on first.

When you are comfortable with these, you can move on to simple action verbs. Learning these verbs will help you to use the right form when speaking. While not every verb will be different when used with another phrase, most have some variation. By understanding how this works, you will soon be able to put phrases together, such as ?I was, You are, and We did.?

Flash Cards Can Be a Great Learning Tool

Next, start learning nouns. One of the best ways to get into Spanish vocabulary practice is to use flash cards. You can find flash cards online or a set that you can use in person. Either way, both are effective. Try to learn four or five new words each day and review the ones you have learn in the days before. This will keep the words that you have practiced recently fresh in your mind. Each week, complete a full review of the last seven days. See how many of these new words you can remember. If you have trouble with any of them, place them back into the words for the next week. At the end of the month, you can complete a full review and see how you are progressing.

You may also wish to incorporate short phrases into your flash cards. For most people, simple learning words through Spanish vocabulary practice can be rather frustrating. You want to learn Spanish quickly and begin to converse in Spanish. However, when you learn a few phrases along with vocabulary words, you will feel as though your hard work is paying off.

Practice with Someone Fluent in Spanish

Another great way to learn more vocabulary words is to practice speaking with a Spanish speaking individual who can help correct any problems you may have. By using conversations with other Spanish speaking people as a form of Spanish vocabulary practice, you will quickly pick up on new phrases and words. You may also learn pieces of the language that are the most difficult: slang. By learning these different phrases and words, you will be speaking fluently before you know it.

Spanish phrases found in phrase books can be useful and many people buy them before embarking on vacation to Mexico or Spain. However, in real life most people discover that phrase books lock you into one way of saying something, and life isn’t like that at all.

Having the ability to say, “Can you tell me if this is the 10.15 or the 10.30 train leaving for Barcelona?” is all very well. But when you are in Bolivia and it’s a bus leaving at midnight you are hoping to catch to some remote village you can’t even pronounce, it isn’t much help. You need to learn more than just Spanish phrases, or at least you need to be able to adapt the Spanish phrases you know.

Spanish Lessons For Kids

Spanish lessons for kids are becoming very popular. More and more people are realizing that the best time to learn Spanish is when you are very young. Kids are always learning at a rapid pace that makes anyone over 20 seem slow.

Kids absorb and take in so much more than older people, and for them it is so much more natural too. They have few if any preconceived notions about the why or the what; they just do it. No wonder then that Spanish lesson for kids as a product idea is so successful.

Spanish lessons for kids are not being used as just another ploy to make some more money off an old existing product. It would be easy to take a faded product and dress it up in a juvenile appealing way and present it as brand new. These days they produce Spanish lessons for kids after a lot of research and development. The market is highly competitive and only the best win out.

Children need to know that learning another language has a good reason. Don’t do it because you can; they won’t understand that. If you plan to travel to a Spanish speaking country, tell them all about it and explain how people there may not understand English. This can be a difficult concept for a very young child to grasp, but tell them anyway. Make it a fun kind of game and they will play along.

Kids need stimulation, so forget about declining Spanish verbs and highlighting the finer elements of the language syntax. Most adults would be lost with that, but kids just get bored and learn nothing as a result. You need to inspire them and light a burning fire under them. Get their emotions all charged up and excited and they will find your Spanish lessons for kids a fun thing to follow.

There are many excellent products geared towards the children’s end of the market. Take your time before buying anything. The perfect Spanish lessons for kids probably don’t exist, but there are probably some that you are better off avoiding too.

Try to get one that incorporates a fun element. Seek out the ones that involve as many of the senses as possible. Sound and vision are the obvious ones with CD’s and video or DVD. But children like to feel things too.

Find a sombrero for them to wear if possible, or some other object that’s Mexican or Spanish. Take them out to a Spanish or Mexican, or any South American, restaurant for a meal and explain the different kinds of food they eaten. Get them to speak to the waiter in Spanish, but only if he or she looks like they may understand. Involve and immerse them as much as possible in the customs, food and language. They will love it and learn all the faster and better too.

Spanish lessons for kids are a great idea for any family. You don’t have to live near the border of a country where that language is spoken to do it either. You don’t even need to have a reason, but it will definitely work best if you all can enjoy it.
